Continuing the last post, from here I went up to one of my fav places, the Buda Castle.
Folytatva az előző bejegyzést, innen felmentem az egyik kedvenc helyemre, a Várba.

Somehow the air was definitely more clear, not as smoggy as last year in general, so I could see pretty far.
Valahogy a levegő tisztább volt, nem annyira szmogos mint tavaly általában, így elég messzire elláttam.





Look at this same view at the time of the Danube flood in June and at night.
Nézd meg, milyen volt a látvány ugyanerről a pontról a júniusi árvízkor és éjszaka!

Oh yeah by the way, on Facebook I just did a quiz "Which EU capital should you live in?" and guess what result I got... :-) This gave me the excuse to stay up late and create this post.
Ja igen, egyébként pont most csináltam egy tesztet a Facebookon: "Melyik EU-fővárosban kellene élned?", és találd ki, milyen eredményt kaptam... :-) Ez szolgáltatta az ürügyet arra, hogy ilyen későn fennmaradjak, és megalkossam ezt a bejegyzést.

A happy Sunday

I love these Sunday walks! I was waiting for a bus at Deák tér and liked how the Sun lighted the park - actually the park belongs to Erzsébet tér.
Imádom ezeket a vasárnapi sétákat! Buszra vártam a Deák téren, és megtetszett, ahogy a Nap megvilágította a parkot - ami voltaképpen már az Erzsébet tér.

As I was fiddling with my camera, trying to find a good angle, I didn't even look at the three young people coming toward me and playing around, I was only looking at the frame of the picture I wanted to get. But exactly at the moment when I clicked, I perceived that somebody was jumping in front of me and I suspected I caught some good move - here it is:
Ahogy ott babráltam a kamerámmal, és egy jó szöget keresgéltem, még csak nem is néztem arra a három játékos kedvű fiatalra, akik felém tartottak, csak azt néztem, hogy hol legyenek majd a kép szélei. De pont abban a pillanatban, amikor exponáltam, érzékeltem, hogy valaki ugrott előttem, és gyanítottam, hogy egy jó mozdulatot kaptam el - íme:

I showed the picture to the guys who liked it a lot - hey man, now you got famous! :-DD
Megmutattam a képet a srácoknak, akiknek nagyon tetszett - öregem, most híres lettél! :-DD

I also asked them to name this photo and the boy who jumped said promptly: "The Happiness and I" - which is the title of an old Hungarian pop song, from one of our greatest female singers, the late Zsuzsa Cserháti.
Arra is megkértem őket, hogy adjanak címet a fotónak, és a fiú, aki ugrott, rögtön rávágta: "A boldogság és én" - ami egy régi magyar szám, a néhai Cserháti Zsuzsától, egyik legjobb énekesnőnktől.



My dear young friends, I thank you for being my models and wish you to always have reason for jump from happiness :-)
Kedves ifjú barátaim, köszönöm, hogy a modelleim lettetek, és kívánom nektek mindig: legyen rá okotok, hogy ugráljatok a boldogságtól :-)

Subway Day: summer afternoon at Nyugati

In my last Subway Day post I showed you the metro entrance of Nyugati which is quite ugly. But when we go up, it's pretty.

The subway doesn't have its own building, you just go down at the end of this tram and its in the underpass. What you can see on the pictures is the beautiful Nyugati (=Western) train station - from where trains go to East from the Danube...
A metrónak nincs saját épülete; egyszerűen lemegyünk az aluljáróba ennek a villamosnak a végénél, és ott lesz lent a bejárat. Ezen a képen a gyönyörű Nyugati Pályaudvar épülete látható, ahonnan a vonatok a Dunától Keletre mennek...

A legutóbbi Metró-napi bejegyzésemben megmutattam nektak a Nyugati metróállomás bejáratát, ami igencsak randa. Viszont, ha felmegyünk, szép:

Budapest Flood by Night, 2009 July 2

There wasn't any thunderstorm as I have predicted, and I had a wonderful walk down to the
Danube which is still very high. Walked in the water - perfect
temperature, I would have loved to go for a swim, except that it is quite
dirty...
Nem volt semmiféle vihar, mint ahogy azt gondoltam, úgyhogy lesétáltam a Dunához, ami még mindig nagyon magas. A vízben járkáltam - tökéletes hőmérséklet, szívesen úsztam is volna egyet, ha nem lenne olyan koszos...







Anyway, I was listening to the music from the bar and singing along, just
for myself (All Of Me, The Girl From Ipanema and such) got an awesome foot
massage on the river ballast - is it how you call it, the pebbles?
Na mindegy, hallgattam a zenét a bárból, és csak úgy magamnak énekeltem hozzá (All of me, The girl from Ipanema, és hasonlók), és remek talpmasszázst kaptam a kavicsokon.







Can you see that the tram track is below the water level?
Látod, hogy a villamossín a víz szintje alatt van?

Enchanted Sunday evening

Had such a wonderful evening on Sunday, 14 May, you won't believe it!
Olyan csodás estém volt május 14-én, hogy nem hinnétek!

After climbing up to the St. Stephen Basilica tower and embracing the whole city with wide horizons (photos coming soon), I popped in for a second to an Indian restaurant where one of my photographer friends David celebrated his big day and did a birthday song for him.
Miután felmásztam a Bazilika tornyába, és átöleltem a várost aszéles horizonttal (fotók hamarosan), egy pillanatra beugrottam egy indiai étterembe, ahol az egyik fotósbarátom David ünnepelte a nagy napját, és elénekeltem neki egy születésnapi dalt.

Then headed to the Buda Castle where I planned to do a Nostalgia Concert. I was almost running in Kertész street where I heard a voice. Not in my head :-) but coming from somewhere in the street, a very powerful male singing voice.
Aztán elindultam a Budai Várba, ahol egy Nosztalgiakoncertet terveztem. Majdnem futottam a Kertész utcában, ahol meghallottam egy hangot. Nem a fejemben :-) hanem valahonnan az utcáról, egy igen erőteljes férfihangot énekelni.

A young Gypsy man was playing his guitar and singing, a few other men and boys clapping, snapping, dancing, women and girls watching. They had apparently a great time, they just thought to come down from the house and enjoy themselves.
Egy cigány fiatalember gitározott és énekelt, néhány férfi és fiú tapsolt, csettintgetett, táncolt, a lányok-asszonyok pedig figyelték őket. Szemmel láthatóan jólérezték magukat; csak úgy lejöttek a házból az utcára, hogy mulassanak egy kicsit.

They invited me so nicely to join them for a song that I did... So there I was, in downtown Budapest, singing and dancing with a bunch of Roma guys...
Olyan szépen hívtak maguk közé egy nótára, hogy kötélnek álltam... Így aztán Budapest kellős közepéna, az utcán mulatoztam roma csávókkal...

Then finally up to the Castle. Ooops, I didn't know that they had a band playing at the Fishermens Bastion restaurant, and that meant no concert for me... For the acoustics are such around the Matthias Church that you can hear only one instrument or one singing voice (especially if it is mine, hahaha) all over the place.
Végre felértem a Várba. Hoppá! Nem tudtam, hogy egy zenekar játszik a Halászbástya étteremben, ami azt jelentette, hogy nincs koncert... Mert olyan az akusztika a Mátyás-templom környékén, hogy egyetlen hangszert vagy énekhangot (főleg, ha az az enyém, hahaha!) mindenhol lehet hallani.

So sorry folks who did come buy to have a listen, but I had to find another stage... Next time send me a text message if you are coming, so that I can let you know about any changes.
Így aztán elnézést kérek azoktól, akik eljöttek, hogy meghallgassanak, de másik színpadot kellett keresnem... Legközelebb küldjetek nekem egy sms-t, ha jöttök, hogy szólhassak, ha van valami változás!



Anyway, my mind was set to singing in the fabulous surroundings, so I walked over to the actual Buda Castle, the Palace where I found a nice little corner to sit down and just sing. Not quite as a performance as such - sure, people did hear it and I hope I added something to their experience, some of them came to me and asked what was I singing - I was enjoying the gorgeous view, the fresh air, the wonderful sound and the mood of the whole thing.
Mindenképpen arra készültem, hogy éneklek egyet a gyönyörű környezetben, ezért átsétáltam a voltaképpeni Várhoz, a királyi palotához, ahol találtam egy helyes kis sarkot, leültem és énekeltem. Nem igazán előadásszerűen - persze, az emberek hallották, és remélem, hogy hozzáadtam valamit számukra az élményhez, tényleg oda is jöttek hozzám megkérdezni, hogy miket énekeltem -, élveztem a fenséges kilátást, a friss levegőt, a csodálatos hangzást és az egész hangulatot.



Getting bored with just sitting or standing and because the views were going through dramatic changes in colors and lights, I had to live my other passion too and take photographs. Stood up and was just walking around, clicking my little camera, finding some good angles and just singing and humming, Didn't care who heard it and who didn't, who liked it and who didn't (hopefully they did :-) - I was just singing and humming away, at one of the world's most wonderful places...
Miután meguntam, hogy csak ott ücsörögjek vagy ácsorogjak, és mivel a látvány színei és fényei drámaian változtak, a másik szenvedélyemnek is kellett éljek, és muszáj volt fotóznom. Felálltam, és csak sétálgattam, kattintgattam a kis gépemet, kerestem a jó szögeket, és közben csak énekelgettem és dúdolgattam. Nem érdekelt, hogy ki hallja és ki nem, kinek tetszik, kinek nem (remélem, azért tetszett nekik :-) - egyszerűen csak énekeltem és dúdoltam, a világ egyik leggyönyörűbb helyén...

And if you look at the pictures, you will understand why I am addicted to this stage of mine and am completely in love with Budapest.
És ha megnézed a képeket, meg fogod érteni, hogy miért vagyok rabja ennek a színpadnak, és miért vagyok teljesen szerelmes Budapestbe.

Well, what else this evening might bring? Can it get better? Yes, it could. I rounded off my night with listening to the Cimbalom King, world famous Hungarian Roma musician Kalman Balogh at Gödör. The hottest music there is!!!
Hát, mi mást hozhat még ez az este? Lehet még ennél is jobb? Igen, lehet. Az estém megkoronázásaként a Cimbalomkirályt, a világhírű muzsikust, Balogh Kálmánt hallgattam a Gödörben. A legforróbb zene, ami csak létezik!!!

What more to say? It was such a perfect evening, just by myself, totally free to do whatever I wanted to and these are the kind of moments when I say I wouldn't trade my life for anybody else's.
Mit is mondjak még? Annyira tökéletes este volt, csak saját magam, teljesen szabadon azt csináltam, amit csak akartam, és ezek azok a pillanatok, amelyekért nem cserélném el az életemet semki máséért.
